The new ferry wharf at Hobsonville Point was built by Auckland Transport as part of an upgrade to the existing wharf area. The 70m long wharf is constructed almost entirely of structural laminated timber with extensive detailing performed off site to enable fast and easy construction on site. The Hobsonville wharf is fully covered and has seating and a multi-level pontoon for people to board. It has been designed to enable access for the disabled and the pontoon is future proofed to accommodate larger vessels as the area grows.
The Hobsonville wharf also has a viewing platform with an illuminated Virginia King sculpture and panels depicting historic and modern-day images of the area. The team at Techlam worked along with the architect, engineer and the client to ensure the components were delivered on time and the desired result was achieved. Another project with tight timeframes and high level of accuracy, successfully completed to the satisfaction of all involved.
